The Mod 73 rifle replica is a high-quality and authentic collector's version, produced by Denix, of the famous lever-action repeating rifle model developed in 1873 and which became a symbol of the American West. Manufactured using metal and real wood, this model features movable parts that simulate the loading and firing mechanism.
The operating principle of this rifle is based on the opening and closing of the mechanism by horizontally moving the lever below the trigger. In this way, the spent cartridge is first ejected, then a new cartridge is taken from the magazine and fed into the barrel. The firing pin is also cocked with the same lever movement. This system allows for rapid successive shots. This design, which was revolutionary for its time, made the rifle extremely popular.
The Mod. 73 also provided ammunition convenience to the user by being able to use the same ammunition (such as .44-40) as the revolvers of the era. For this reason, it was frequently preferred by both cowboys and law enforcement. This rifle eventually became known as "the rifle that conquered the West." Moreover, it became legendary with the 1950 film "Winchester '73."
